Alicante Hosts Sound Impact: Exploring Sustainability and Well-being in Music

·

Asociación Europea Equalis welcomed a group of adult learners from Bulgaria to Alicante for the Erasmus+ mobility “Sound Impact: Music as Catalyst for Green Change and Healthy Living,” organised and coordinated by Soundport LTD – Bulgaria. The project brings together musicians, DJs, music producers and cultural professionals for a 10-day learning programme focused on sustainability, well-being, inclusion and responsible audience engagement in the music sector.

During the opening session in Alicante, Asociación Europea Equalis introduced its mission, activities and role as the hosting organisation. The participants were welcomed to the learning environment and received an overview of the programme, including the daily structure, learning objectives, group working methods and expected outcomes. The first day also included icebreaking activities, allowing participants to introduce themselves, share their artistic background and reflect on their expectations for the mobility.

The project responds to several important challenges in the music industry. While music creates culture, emotion, identity and community, it also has an environmental footprint connected to travel, events, production, digital tools, merchandise and audience behaviour. At the same time, many musicians and creative professionals face pressure, irregular working hours, stress, performance anxiety, financial uncertainty and burnout. Sound Impact addresses these realities by combining environmental learning with well-being strategies and practical career reflection.

Throughout the programme, participants will take part in sessions on the European Green Deal, sustainability in the music industry, sustainable events, greenwashing, responsible audience engagement, creative idea development, digital tools, AI and the environmental impact of technology. The programme also includes a strong focus on well-being, with discussions on stress, burnout, performance anxiety and sustainable creative careers.

A key part of the mobility is the development of music-related ideas with impact. Participants will be encouraged to design realistic concepts that combine sustainability, well-being, inclusion and audience engagement. These ideas may take the form of songs, DJ sets, workshops, listening sessions, campaigns, studio activities, videos, podcasts or community events. The group will continue developing these concepts during the mobility and present them towards the end of the programme.

By hosting this mobility in Alicante, Asociación Europea Equalis contributes to transnational cooperation, adult learning and the promotion of European values through culture. The organisation is proud to support a project that connects creativity with environmental responsibility, personal well-being and social inclusion.

The mobility is coordinated by Soundport LTD – Bulgaria, with Asociación Europea Equalis hosting the group in Alicante and supporting the delivery of the learning programme.
