As part of the Erasmus+ mobility Sound Impact: Music as Catalyst for Green Change and Healthy Living, Asociación Europea Equalis is pleased to publish the Sound Impact Good Practices and Lessons Learned Guide, now available for download in PDF format.
The guide was developed following the successful completion of the Sound Impact mobility in Alicante, hosted by Asociación Europea Equalis with participants from Soundport LTD and Reptilla Studio. The mobility brought together Bulgarian musicians and music professionals for an intensive learning experience focused on sustainability, well-being, inclusion, audience engagement and climate-conscious creative practice in the music industry.
Throughout the programme, participants explored how musicians, DJs, producers, studios and small music organisations can take practical steps toward greener and healthier creative careers. The training covered topics such as carbon footprint awareness, greenwashing, zero waste, net zero, carbon-neutral claims, digital impact, sustainable music events, studio practices, well-being, burnout, stress, performance anxiety, healthy routines and community care.
The newly published guide gathers the main lessons learned during the mobility and translates them into practical recommendations for the wider music and cultural sector. It highlights how sustainability should not remain an abstract concept, but should become part of everyday decisions in music creation, production, promotion, events, audience communication and professional collaboration.
The guide also reflects one of the key messages of the project: music professionals are not only creators, but also cultural influencers. Through their choices, public presence and creative work, they can inspire audiences and communities to think differently about environmental responsibility, well-being and inclusion.
The publication includes good practices on explaining sustainability concepts clearly, addressing the hidden footprint of digital music, making well-being a core part of sustainable creative careers, using music as a tool for audience engagement, connecting sustainability with inclusion, recognising learning outcomes, and communicating Erasmus+ results publicly.
During the mobility, participants also developed practical creative ideas, including an interactive educational song for children, a concept with three mascots dedicated to cleaning the planet, and an app idea for calculating carbon emissions. These outputs demonstrate how music-related learning can move from awareness to practical creative action.
By publishing this guide, Equalis aims to share the results of the Sound Impact mobility with other artists, music professionals, cultural organisations, educators and Erasmus+ stakeholders. The document can be used as a reference for future training activities, creative workshops, sustainability planning, well-being discussions and music-sector initiatives.
